The U.S. Senate has unanimously approved a bipartisan resolution cosponsored by Senator John McCain (R-AZ) in support of 4-H and its recently-launched "Grow True Leaders" campaign. The measure, which was originally introduced by Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), recognizes the benefits of 4-H programs in Arizona and across the country and the importance of this new campaign in fostering leadership, responsibility and citizenship among the nation's young people.
"The 4-H program has made a tremendous impact on Arizona families by helping to shape our young people into tomorrow's leaders," said Senator McCain. "Our resolution recognizes the success of 4-H programs in rural Arizona communities, such as those spanning Graham and Yuma Counties, and supports the expansion of these important initiatives to more urban parts of our state. I want to thank the great 4-H program leaders educating Arizona's next generation and look forward to seeing the continued growth of these vital programs."
The 4-H movement supports young people through programs designed to shape future leaders and innovators, particularly in rural communities. The new "Grow True Leaders" campaign seeks to replicate 4-H's success in rural communities in urban areas with the goal of reaching a broader, more diverse population of American children.
